What is a Local Service Ad? 

Local Service Ads, also known as LSA’s, are paid ads that appear at the top of Google’s search results based on your location. They highlight the most important information about your business. Such as your name, location, reviews, services, etc.! LSA’s show higher than the standard Google Ad and also operate on a pay-per-lead model rather than pay-per-click. This means you are only paying for a true lead rather than a click that may never convert. With that being said, they also come with a bigger price tag. LSA’s show higher than your organic searches, AND standard Google Ads campaigns. It’s recommended to spend AT LEAST $150 a week, which is $500/ month – and that’s the minimum recommended. However, because of their pay-per-lead model, you get what you pay for!!

Why do Local Service Ads matter? 

Regardless of if you’re a roofer, law firm, or pest control, running LSA’s for your business gives you the opportunity to grow your business within your local community. Depending on your industry, you’ll either see the ‘Google Guaranteed’ or ‘Google Screened’ badge. The Google Guarantee badge is commonly shown for home services and contractors whereas Google Screened badge is used for more professional services such as law or real estate. These badges act as a “seal of approval” which shows potential customers that you are a real, trustworthy business. In today’s world, where anything can be made to seem real, having trust from your audience is crucial to your businesses’ success! 

Local Service Ads and Reviews:

If you plan on running Local Service Ads, you need to have quality and quantity google reviews, as Google will use this as a factor when ranking LSAs. Google will only display 3 LSA’s in the search result. This does not mean that your ad won’t show, but to see other Local Service Ads you’ll need to hit the blue link that says “more” – but many people won’t do this! Google ranks LSAs based on the searcher’s location and the number of positive reviews that your business has. You can’t do anything about the searcher’s location, but you can control your reviews. So ask your clients for them, not only are they important for your SEO but also your Local Service Ads!
