Alright, let’s grow your business with Reels! I promise, it’s a lot easier than you think (and actually kind of fun). I’ve put together 5 tips to help you get started!
1. TRENDS (but use them wisely!):
· Save relevant trending audios when you see them.
· Don’t force trends if they don’t fit your brand! Not every trending sound or idea will align with your business, and that’s okay! The goal is to attract the right audience.
· Put your own spin on it! Make the trend fit YOUR message, not the other way around.
2. CONSISTENCY:
· Batch record! (Setting aside 1–2 hours to film multiple Reels at once. This saves time, keeps your content consistent, and takes the pressure off having to film every single day.) We do this at Uptown too, we call them “Content Days!” They’re always a blast and a great way to bond as a team.
· Start by posting 1-2 Reels per week, so you stay visible without getting overwhelmed.
3. FILMING:
· HOOK! The first 1–2 seconds decide everything. (Just think about how quickly you scroll if something doesn’t catch your eye.) Hook your audience with something that grabs attention or feels personal.
· Use natural lighting (face a window!)
· Don’t overthink, authentic > perfect.
· Always add text (many people watch without sound).
· Smile + BIG energy = better engagement.
4. GROWTH:
· Prompt interaction by telling your audience exactly what to do, comment, like, share, or save. The more engagement your video gets, the more it gets pushed out.
· Again, keep it short and engaging to boost watch time.
· Make sure you are interacting with the comment section! Engaging back quickly boosts your post and builds connection with your audience.
5. COMMON MISTAKES YOU CAN AVOID:
· Overthinking / waiting for it to be perfect.
· Forcing trends that don’t fit your brand.
· Using too many hashtags. (Loading your caption with hashtags can look spammy and hurt your reach.)
· Not showing personality. Make it fun and let your personality shine. People connect most with real, authentic content!
And that’s it, time to bring your ideas to life!
The key is to keep it simple, stay consistent, and don’t overthink it! The more you show up, the more confident you’ll get, and your audience will grow right along with you.
